Here is my dilema. When starting down the road after truck
has sat overnight, at work, even just 1/2 hr sometimes I can
hear the engine rev higher that normal for the first 1/4 to 1/2
mile. I assume that is the trans slipping? After that initial distance
of driving it does not do this at all or if you stop somewhere and leave
it running it does not act like that when you drive away.
Second part-is an in line filter on the tranny return line a stock item?
Would removing this possibly help? Maybe clogged?
Thanks in advance for any input.

Filter was installed when trans was replaced to ensure collection of debris from tans cooler. Trans is probably not slipping; from cold start, it takes about 1/4 to 1/2 mile to warm up enough to allow the torque convertor to lock up. In cold winter, it may take a couple of miles.
