rotted frame

So I'm giving the 'ol Effie her spring undercarriage wash job and in the process wash away most of a frame crossmember. Rusted, rotted and gone. It's the one that comes off the main frame just about under the driver's feet. What suggestions and recommendations do you guys have, other than moving to the sun belt where the state road department is not my mortal enemy?

Well that is a very important structural part of your frame unfortuantly. I would reccomend finding a donor truck and cutting it out. The rivets will be difficlt to remove but once removed bolt it into your truck. Relitevly cheap and much much safer.

Unfortunately, the only bone yard in my area sent the last of their slicks to the crusher two years ago. Anyone know if anybody offers replacements?

That crossmember you need is 1961/64 only. The 65/66's are different. Find something similar off something else, or get a piece of steel straping, cut it to fit, and weld it to the remaining member.
