I usually use ARP for fasteners and I am very happy with the quality, but there are some lengths and what not that they just don't offer...so, where else can I go for top notch quality fasteners that ARP does not have??
That is not a name. Most larger cities have industrial fastener distributors. They can supply any quantity of any quality fastener you want for a price. Most have minimum order quantities and $$ tho.
Like Drew2010 said. My local Fastenal distributer not only sells by the box but also has an entire aisle of bins where you can buy what you need one piece at a time. A little expensive but excellent quality.
Cant go wrong with Fastenal. We have 2 Fastenal stores here in Rome GA one onthe east side of town and one on the west side. They have it all and then some.

There is a Fastenal near by as well as some other similar stores, but when searching for hardware in these kinds of stores how do you tell quality from crap?? With ARP, you can't go wrong, but with hardware stores it is very hit and miss so to speak. Are there any manufacturers to look for??

My local Fastenal sells only their own line of fasteners. All top quality stuff. You get what you pay for.

The reason I ask is because on the link above they have DORMAN PRODUCTS as well as FASTENAL APPROVED VENDOR (I guess they don't want to say who makes those products) listed for the manufacturer of the studs that they sell.
I hate to say it, but GOOD fastenings may become a thing of the past. We use top grade socket head bolts on the molds we service, and for the last couple years, we've been getting a lot of garbage- inaccurate, buggered threads, heads pop off before you even torque 'em. Turns out a lot of US 'manufacturers' are now out-sourcing to China. DME, the biggest producer of injection mold components, is in the process of downsizing their US operations, and having everything made overseas.
