As you may recall, I posted a thread here a few weeks ago regarding a no start situation with a Kia Sportage. Some friend of a friend rigged up some custom wiring, and until today, my gf was able to start her little truck by turning the ignition key to the run position, and using a pushbutton to actually engage the starter.
Well, that doesn't work anymore.
Wiring is still OK, as the engine still turns over, but no start. I haven't had much time to look yet, but I figure it's gotta be fuel or spark not getting there.
It's a long story, but her disabled Kia is in my driveway...and she's at her house with the key. So I can't even try tonight.
I did find a few Kia help type forums, and apparently, this is not rare. Lots of good stuff to check out...I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend...
Electrical connection at fuel pump gets voltage with the key in "on" position, but fuel pump doesn't well...pump.
So, I nabbed one from the local junkyard cheap. Came right out.
Now I can't get the old one out of her Kia. It's got eight tiny bolts holding the assembly into the top of the fuel tank...two of which I got out, six are stripping. Not round yet, but fading fast. It's soaking in PB blaster at the moment.
As the fuel pump gets voltage, but doesn't pump fuel, I'm thinking that could / would / should be the problem.
