hey guys, I have a carb. problem. it's not one of the simple autolite tho It's on a foreign truck. BUT, it's all the same concept really. It will pretty much ONLY run w/ the choke almost all the way on. but of course it has no power at all that way. If I open the choke up, it won't run, and it's like it's not getting gas, w/ the choke on, it can pull the gas through though.
I've been trying to find a vacuum leak. so I disconnected and plugged EVERYthing w/ vacuum except for the dizzy advance, and the brake booster. and it has helped, but not much. I've sprayed ether around the intake gasket, and carb base, and nothing happened. so I'm stumped.
One more detail, the 4th cylinder has no compression, and it is mostly because of a burned valve, could that cause me to have no vacuum? tomorrow I'm gonna take the spark plug out and run it that way, Ground the plug wire of course so I don't kill the coil. and maybe not having any compression, or another way for the air to move it MIGHT help me out......maybe???
what do you old heads think, you've def. been around this MANY years more than I have.
