I recently put a 302 into my 78 F-150 4X4. The motor is one I had in another truck and has always been a good performer. When I changed motors I changed the choke over to a climatic choke. It had a manual choke on the other truck. I have started having problems with the carb flooding very easily and running very rough. During a cold start, you can really smell gas. After it warms up it runs better, but still a little rough. It will flood very easy when warm. It seems like the float is not working properly. Upon checking out this carb I found that the guy who owned the truck before me, put a carb from a 390 on and jetted it down. I obtained a carb that is for a 302 (a champ reman). There are different vaccum connections on it, than what was on the other carb. Would anyone know where I can find a good vaccum diagram? I appreciate any and all assistance. Thanks!!

Don't assume rebuilt carb means good or fixed
I recently went through 3 remanufactured carbs (MC 2150 for 351M) b4 I solved my problems of cold starting, flooding, and hesitation. The first two had either bent throttle linkage or poor acceleration and leaking. The third carb at least idled and had good vacuum. Poor warm-up and hesitation were its problem. This what I found.
1) Bent Fast Idle screw lever; did not come anywhere near fast idle cam: straightened and adjusted per rebuild kit
2) Choke unloader vacuum can leaked and full of gas: replaced with new $24
3) Air Metering rods bent and dirty with varnish: replaced with parts from core
4) No gaskets on air metering system: replaced with rebuild kit
5) Power Valve leaking: Replace with kit. Two gaskets found on power valve; old torn one and new gasket.
6) Accelerator Pump would not react to lever adjustment; spring was corroded and bent(squashed); replaced with spring from core.
7) Mixture screws at 4 and 2 turns respectively; instructions say 100% flow bench tested?????
Now it works great; but these carbs are hardly what one could term remanufactured or rebuilt. $244 for carb + $20 rebuild kit + $24 choke unloader + labor. The auto parts clerk summed it up; "I hate to sell this cr*p!"

I haven't put the remanufactured carb on yet. It has more vaccum connections than the one that is on the motor, and I want to make sure that I get it hooked up right.
