I took my 99 4.6 on a road trip and began getting a flashing "service engine soon" light which came on when the truck had to downshift into gear when climbing hills. then after it shifted and lowered engine RPM the light would go away,
any suggestions? car has about 90,000 miles
thanks
Get it scanned to see if there is a code in memory and post the code, otherwise, nope, no clue. (autozone can do this, but do not listen to what they tell you the problem is, most of the time they are wrong)

I agree %100. I would recomend getting the truck scanned, then doing a search here. Example: Cylinder 5 misfire. Autozone might say spark plug or even MAF. You get on this forum and you will see the common problems people have with the same truck. Cylinder 5 misfire would be a good chance of Coil Pack.
