TBI any better than carb?

Pud, a couple of friends and I like to do some light off-road trail wheelin here in Hawaii and one thing I've noticed is that my carbed Ch**y will hesitate on steeper inclines but my TBI buddy has no problems. And if my truck sits for a couple of week, It'll take a good amount of cranking before the fuel bowl fills again and starts up. My buddy on the other hand cranks right up! I enjoy my carbed truck because of its simplicity but sometimes I wish it was injected.

TBI was a relativly inexpensive way to bring EFi to the masses. Its two main advantges over the carb system are - #1 (Previously mentioned) Off road performance is greatly enhanced as you do not have varing fuel heights due to floats affected by angles / tilts / cambers / etc. #2 is that unlike a carb, which can only be truly perfectly tuned for one temp, one baro pressure, etc, the EFI TBI is a dynamicaly adjustable / adaptable system, being able to make minute fuel delivery changes for varing things such as height above / below sea level, the paticular air and coolant temps at that time, the baro pressure and so on.
And as mentioned - cold start performance and running is assured.
Cheap basicly. Not as much performance as a multi port system, and with a wet intake manifold (in comparison to injecting the fuel right at / slightly before the intake valve), it is hard to tune the intake runner length to get more power (TBI or carb, fuel will tend to condense out on those longer runner designs.

ProJection TBI
Years ago, My brother put one on a cammed 400 bronco. Between it and an MSD 6al it made the bronco very manageable in our freezing Florida weather . I had one on a slightly cammed 302 and they do help as others have said.
I will look an see if I still have the "closed loop" hookup that I never installed on my 302, if you decide to go with the Holly projection. I am pretty sure I still have an extra injector --will looksee if interested. Hopefully it wasnt put in file 13----.

ridgerider3, I'm not sure just where you are going with this fl joke. My post was about the subject of this thread, TBI vs carb, with a small attempt at humor---maybe very small So far, I am not sure what your opinion of the subject matter is.
We get a lot of transplants down here, most of them good people. However, many of them complain about everything---bugs, cold weather, hot weather, bugs, rain, fires, bugs, humidity, fl drivers (who are generally transplants!) rednecks, bugs, grits, turnip greens, bugs, our stupidity (we sell them bottled water we dip out of the creek for $2.00 a pint) and finally, more bugs.
What is your opinion about TBI again?
