Here in VA I tell my clients to figure about $25 per square foot for a rough estimate.

It really does not cost alot more to have a larger gaarage other than the additional square foor price.

For example, a "standard sized garage" of 24 x 24 would cost approx. $14,400. (24x24x25)

A nice garage of say 26x28 would cost approx. $18,200.

There are certain economies of scale that would cover the cost of going to a taller wall section and larger garage door(s).

For 60K you could have a Taj Ma Garage !!
That's about what I charge too. Most garages I build are in the $25 - $30 per foot range. Typically includes slab with drain, 1 or 2 courses block, 8' sidewalls(on top of the block), 4/12 roof, 35 year shingles, vinyl siding, aluminum soffit and facia, 2 or 3 windows, man door, and insulated garage door.

smlford seems to be right on with his pricing. My 26x28 detached with 8' x16' double insulated door ,window and side entry door cost me just under 20K with insulation, finished sheetrock, paint and a hanging heater. As he say's, it's a "nice" garage, but as some of the others said, go as big as you can afford and lot coverage will allow or you will be kicking yourself later. If it wasnt for my lot size, I would have gone even bigger.

I am in NY and was also factoring in tree removal (4 - 5 large ones), driveway repaved after work is completed, electrical, plumbing, excavation, concrete, structure itself etc.
