Water Pump on Flat 6
Nice to see a flat 6 runnin even if sickish, first one I've seen believe it or not.
Well sure you're curious to find out what me thinks.
I don't know if you have pointed the problem noise to the front part of the motor but My vote is on your clutch/flywheel assembly.
How you ask, I am going to say something is loose and when the motor is reved from a idle pressure builds and the "knock" stops.
My secound guess would be a lifter assembly but I do not think so the Knock sounds to loud that SERIOUS damage would be occuring to the valvetrain.
My 2 cents anywho
I'm pullin for ya though just glad to not see any valve covers lol

Sorry no one has responded to your post. This thread is 17 years old and probably long forgotten.
You might get a quicker answer over on the '49-'56 forum: 1948 - 1956 F1, F100 & Larger F-Series Trucks - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums (ford-trucks.com) This is where most of the flathead people hang out at FTE.
This issue has been discussed there many times. I'm a flathead 8 owner, so I don't know the answer myself.
