I just installed some headers on my expedition( 2000 w/5.4) I also changed to a free flow muffler. After about 10 miles of driving the check engine light came on. Has anyone expirenced this problem? If so ,how do you fix it?
i just had the codes pulled and it was p1131.
accrding to autozone it is an O2 sensormon bank 1 , sensor 1. dumb question , which side is "bank 1"? any help would be appreciated
Bank 1 is the passenger side. The one on the same side as the #1 cylinder. The sensor 1 is ahead of the cats, if you still have them, so it isn't in relation to that. Could be a bad sensor.
Sometimes the physical removal and reinstallation of a "bordeline" sensor can knock it out of whack.
Also make sure it's plugged in, no contacts at the connector are corroded, and make sure no pins were pushed out and/or crushed. Also make sure there are no exhaust leaks in front of the O2, as that can throw it off sometimes too. Make sure the gaskets are all properly sealing up and all that.
Sometimes, exhaust modifications can screw things up for the computer, but I would think it would have flagged both sensors if that was your case.
