I have a 95 Flareside with a 5.0.It's got 3.55 gears, underdrive pulleys, drop-in K&N Headers with straightpipes and now a twin blade 56mm BBK TB on it.It runs great.Got great torque thanks to the diff gears(up from 3.31's) and exhaust, but nowI can only feel the power in the mid and high ranges. After the previousmods it feels sluggish as apposed to before when all I felt wasthe torque.Mind you, my speed between two traffic lights is more by almost 9 miles an hour.I wanna feel my torque again. How do I compensate with the free exhaust and now semi-free intake.I'm already looking at a new set of worked E7TE heads,as opposed to my stock ones. The furthest I wanna get into the motorfornow would be the heads since this is my DD.Any thoughts appreciated.Thanks.
Perhaps a good set of mufflers to slow the exhaust gasses down. Most of the work you are doing moves the power into a higher RPM range, a good tuner might be able to make more out of what you have in the lower spectrum. You should be on a MAF system I belive, so you computer can accomodate a little change with out tuning if it's clean.
A higher stall torque converter will make you launch at a RPM with more power, but I'd stay under 2800 rpms for a daily driver.
I wasactuallythinking of putting a pair of40 series flowmasters for that deep rumble to replace the burnedout glasspacks that I have currently. As for the tuner, that brings me to another question. The only tuners I've been able tofindonly back up to 96 if I want something for 95 I have to go with a jetchip. Will the 96 tunerwork on my 95 5.0?
No, in 1996 the fed's made OBD2 the computer standard. You have EEC-IV and is not easily reflashable. However, it is possible. There are kits from I believe Moates.com that replace the stock prom with a eeprom and then you can use tweecer or others work the program. Sniper has developed a software package that is suposed to cover back to the mid-80's. I have thier special forces and I am impressed, I wouldn't have a seconds hesitation in trying any of thier other products. http://www.snipertuning.com/new/product.phtml?p=9
On my old 84 302 a single 3" exhaust with a 14" turbo (Walker Hemi) muffler that gave decent torgue with 3.55 and stock wheels. Sounded great. Some Glass packs have a small (1 3/4 core) to maintain torgue but some have 3" cores and if your running duals it might flow too much. I don't know how much the EEC-IV can learn but I have a friend that "chipped" his 88 302 after some mods and it worked well. I think you have the OBD-I with PCM system that does have a learn function and you can pull codes to see whats happening. There several chips and tuning options available. My current 94 300 6 has a speed density system but I think you have the MAF which is better for mods.
Good Luck

well, I do have a set of turbo mufflers out back that was originally on the truck I swiped the system from(my parts truck)maybe I'll throw them on...but once again I want the loudness and a ood aggressive tone...heh heh heh
