Get a timing light, start the engine and connect the light to #1 plug wire. Pull the spout(a small jumper near the TFI module on the wiring harness), and aim the light at the timing marks on the crank pulley. Stock is 10deg BTDC, you may get away with 12-13deg total before detonation under load becomes a problem on 87 octane. Test the motor under heavy load after making an adjustment and listen for pinging, if you get any retard the timing some.
i got my timing advanced, can notice a little improvment, my exhaust does sound diffrent at idleing. i dont have any spark knock so i must have it set right.
