replacement tailgate

I considered replacing mine when one of the hinges broke. I was able to weld it and make it work.
I looked into a few shops that sold them unfinished but by the time painting etc it was cheaper to just find one on Ebay or at a local junk yard .
Usually when a truck gets junked, they yank off the bed or tailgates since those are usually frequently needed parts. There was a place in Illinois that was 20 minutes from me who would sell the part on ebay for $20 but would charge $150 to ship. I said I lived real close could I just pick it up.
They said sure but they would have to ship it to there pick up location "Across the Street" and charge me a shipping charge of $135 .
What a joke. Anyway this is one place I remember looking at, but I don't know if they were the ones I spoke of.

if you have all the hinges, latches and the handle...the actual tailgate isnt that expensive new...check your local ford dealer, he may have one stashed in the back that's collecting dust...
