Got it! My dental pics were too wide but had a real thin screw driver and did what you said. It took a few passes but finally got it. Tried it several times too insure it is not a fluke.

Glad it worked out for you. Mine never did it again, and it's been over a year. I think a new cylinder is under 20 bucks, easy to change, but as you said, you then have 2 keys. Being the older guy I am, I tend to fix or baby stuff along simply because so much aftermarket stuff is poor quality. My last "fix" on my 98 was the alternator, it took 3or4 from NAPA before I got one that did not whine. They worked fine, but sounded like a blower under the hood. Clean out the cylinder now and then with WD, keep a lot of keys off the ring, try it for a while, see what you think. If the cylinder doesn't have a lot of slop, you should be fine. Good Luck...
