Hi folks . I just picked up a 1974 F250 4x4 Crew Cab with a 390cid and Warn Winch . I will call it the " Big Brown Beast " . It needs to be brought back to proper health. I picked it up in Oregon for $1,500 . I almost need a ladder to get in . I plan to install a Spicer 5531 aux tranny (2 to 1 low gear - direct - 33% overdrive ) between the 4 speed and transfer case . Should get about 15 mpg on the high road .
My last truck was a 1972 F100 Sport Custom with a 351 w and AOD at 21 MPG Highway. Originaly was a 360 /c6 at 8 MPG . It was a good truck until stolen and broken. I think that the BBB will suit my needs better. You know how it is , Bigger -Longer -Stronger.
( My other driver is a VW Golf TDI Diesel at 40 / 50 MPG )
Looking foward to reading and chatting with all of you .
The Beast
Welcome Paul, great to have you on board. Too bad about the 72, they are neat trucks. Congrat on the BBB, sounds like a fun ride!
