hello everyone, im new to the diesel thing and have a few questions. if anyone could help with even one of them i would appreciate it. i just bought a 2002 7.3 psd crew cab, long bed F250, 4x4, w/ 45,000 miles, all the toys. im currently getting about 15.2 mpg and would like to get a bit more power and mpg. i understand that everyone will have different opinions but i want to make sure i dont waste money. here is what my first steps were, edge juice w/ attitude for some extra ponies, and the afe stage 2 intake with the magnaflow 4 inch turbo back exhaust. figure that should give me what i need. what do you guys think? also heard alot about DP tuners but dont know anything about them. any opinions or help would be much appreciated. sorry for the long read and thanks in advance.
welcome to FTE..the best place for a ford question..a DP tuner is a custom made chip for your trucks computer..you tell Jody what mods you have and what HP you want and he will give you the safest and best tunes out there..its a 16 position switch on the fly chip.you don't need to fill all 16..you can get one or two tunes or you can fill all 16..I also highly recommend gauges.. pyro, boost and if you got an auto trans you need trans temp..other then that..you look good..good luck and have fun with youtr new truck..

Well, I didn't see but one question there, so I'll answer it -- you have the basics covered, but I don't know much about the Edge. I went DP and love it!! You didn't mention gauges which are important when you start adding power. The other mods are pretty standard starters, which are the similar to the route I took. Started with the CCV mod to get rid of the oily boots & turbo, then exhaust & 6637 intake. Followed by the DP tuner & DiPricol Optix gauges w/4 gauge pillar pod from ITP. Future mods are tranny (valve body, etc), HPX, Hutch/Harpoon, and regulated fuel return...
Here is what I'll be doing when I save up enough money:
Guages: Pyro and Boost (I have the 6spd)
Ford AIS with fender sleeve mod.
MBRP 4 inch or MKO 5 inch (still on the fence about this one. I've heard the MBRP will have less drone than the MKO)
DP tuner
Overboost Annihilator from ITP
I want to do them all in one shot but I might get the guages first to get baseline for EGTs and then continue in the above order.
dre -- I went with the MBRP SS 4" and absolutely love the sound. And thanks for reminding me -- I got the ITP overboost regulator from DP. They carry them as well so you get get it at the same time the tuner shows up. Very handy!! Just don't do like I did and forget to plug the connector back in when you install it!! Instant CEL... DOH!!!
I don't really notice the drone, but at 75-80, the turbo whistle is noticeable!! With the 6637 & foil-delete, you get more high frequency whistle which is pretty noticeable at highway speeds, even unloaded. I wouldn't say it's terribly annoying, but I have tinitus, so I hear a high-pitch whistle all the time anyway...

Just my .02
Give the Diamond Eye turbo back exhaust a look. A lot less money for the same or even better quality. I assume you have been on my site since you are getting the foam sleeve you can look at prices there. www.DieselPowerProducts.com. Dipricol gauges can't be beat either.
i forgot about gauges. i will indeed be adding gauges. i suppose you all use the guge pillar mount with the 3 gauges, so what 3 should i get? i know i need the egt, also i have an automatic so i need the tranny temp, what is the most important one to add as the 3rd? also, where can i read up on dp tuners? web addy? thanx everyone for the welcome i do appriciate it.
My 4" Stainless MBRP was $490 shipped to my door, with a nice tip from Throroughbred Diesel. Includes a 10 year warranty... Best deal I could find at the time. Super-easy install. Shop around!!
Welcome, Dp tuner is on the web, i think they are a sponsor as well, i have isspro gauges im installing this weekend i can post pics if you want, but the most important are the EGT,(exhaust temp)Boost(with a chip and mods you can overwork a stock turbo), and Tranny temp that rounds out the three. All your other plans are off to a good start, just hang around for more, theres a great bunch of fellas on here all with PMS
I'll be adding oil pressure as the 4th. I got my DiPricols from ITP and if you call, he'll send you the 4 gauge pillar pod instead of the three for less than a buck more... Worth it IMHO.
