I have a 1998 B4000 and I want to put new plug wires on. I put new double platinum plugs on about a year ago, and I think that I should get new wires also. Any suggestions on what I should get?
Why not consider OEM wires, to go with OEM plugs, as their resistance & capacitance values are specified to keep our vehicles ignition's electrical system in proper balance.
Sometimes we forget our ignition system is a big R/C network, so plugs & or wires, with other than the specified OEM values for resistance & capacitance, can upset our ignition systems R/C balance & adversley affect the timing, spark generation & thus the quality of the spark the engine gets!!!!
I put some JBA wires on and had problems with the ends pulling off, so I'd have to recommend you stay away from those. I've had good luck with both Motorcraft and Borg Warner wires. Do yourself a favor, listen to pawpaw and use OEM wires. They will unquestionably fit and function the best in your EDIS-equipped Ranger. You ought to contact an FTE sponser such as
I am sold on Magnecor. If you do a google search you will find independent test results that show their benefits. They are priced about halfway between autozone type ( borg warner, etc.) and OEM. Haven't gotten them on the truck, but on the Cougar they upped my gas mileage by almost 2 full mpg on a full tank avg.
