Unemployeed

What makes this a 6.0L question is that I drive a 6.0L PSD.

I just became unemployeed this week due to corporate restructuring. If anyone knows of a company in need of a Sales or Marketing Management person please let me know via PM.

My background is in the consumer products, food, small kitchen electrics, and food safety instruments for the restaurant and food manfacturing sectors.

With 20+ years of sales, marketing and business development I am uniquely cross-trained and multi-fuctional in all three of these areas.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advanced to all my 6.0L firends.

Jeff

Live in Kansas City and would prefer to stay here... but will relocate for the right opportunity.

Maybe Ford needs a Super Duty marketing person or a diesel motor person???

Hey beach hang in there I'm looking for a job myself .
I think you would be perfect for ford with all your knowledge ,maybe you could tell them to get rid of the egr concept and market a longer lasting engine without oily crud clogging
the whole intake .

Good Luck Jeff.

Oil companys are going to put a hurt on this country if something doesn't change. Companys are going to charge more to keep up . Companys are going to down size and they will lay off workers . Pretty soon people won't be able to pay their bills and we all know its downhill from there.

Maybe thats what our goverment wants ?

It just pisses me off when able body person is laid off and oil companys are making record profits.

BBC: Sorry to hear that. Been there and it is not a fun prospect. I will certainly make some enquiries within my company, not exactly aligned but not too far off from what you used to do. Also you should join on the Linked In site. It is a good networking location and give you the ability to find people that have inside contacts many times. If you do, let me know and I will link you to my network.

Hang in, it does get better..

Well Matt, you know the old saying...................."If you can't beat them, join them."

BTW they are all hiring, every thing tied to the energy industry is wide open right now. Sad part is, no one wants to work. We have been hiring for 6 months out of 50 applicants only one actually seemed like he wanted to work. To think, these are the people collecting welfare and food stamps off the backs of hard working higher tax paying people. I make a very good living in the oil and gas sector, and encourage anyone to do the same. Don't blame the government or the Oil companies, there is plenty of blame to go around. I guess what I am saying is quit whining and do something make a difference. As big of an advocate of alternative fuels as you seem to be, start a bio plant. If you hate the energy sector that bad, beat them at their own game.

Back to Jeffs dilema, you might try the energy sector, they are always looking for PR, Marketing and Sales people. THey pay extremely well and as much as you know about consumer issues and as well versed as you are on the products we discuss here in this forum would make you a shoe in. Shell/ or a Shell Jobber would love to have you as a sales rep with the data to back up selling their product for the 6.0 market, especially the number of fleets running them out there. Heck, the proof is in the X you drive, kinda hard to argue with that. In any rate, good luck to you on your quest for new employment.

Sorry to hear about your situation Jeff. Make the best of it though, a new opportunity is on the way!

Update your resume with your latest accomplishments, freshen up the cover letter and explore what's out there. Don't limit yourself to the same industry which you were accustomed to, now's your chance to market something different.

Remember to sharpen your interviewing skills and think about the questions you'll be asked so you'll be properly prepared. As detail-oriented as you are, it's difficult to envision you as a person that's not prepared.

The only reason I picked oil companys to vent on is Exxon/Mobil made over 39.5 billion dollars last year. Do they deserve to make a profit ? Heck yeah but not at the gas pumps. I understand supply and demand but someone needs to give an honest answer why price of gasoline was under 2 bucks in the end of January this year and is now near 4 bucks in May. Looks like pure greed to me maybe I'm wrong but it doesn't seem right. Why can the price very from state to state ,county to county and city to city ? Heard on the radio that gas was $2.86 a gal in South Carolina and here it was $3.56 a gal. Do they have special pipe line there ? Heck I can go from one county to the next one over and there will be a $.20 differance a gal. Maybe they should be limited how many times in a week they can change the price.

Btw they are building 3 bio plants as we speak here in Indiana . I wish more guys would try bio and help loosen the dependency on foreign oil.

The Best of Luck, Jeff. I know that don't help much but I'll say a prayer for you hope you find just what your looking for, with more pay and better benefits than you were getting and your old boss that layed you off has to deal with you to keep his job.

i been unemployed for a long time! but decided to heck with it and go to college, now after looking for months for work, my wife has joined me also.

i thought after getting out of the Navy, finding a job would not have been this hard, i didn't even care where i lived, and the one job i got picked up for i am not medically cleared to do because of blood tests once a month.

good luck!
