there's something nice about budget sledding! thats the way we do it. have sleds we can afford to own, then we can afford to run them. i might be looking into a new phazer for next year...those things seem pretty cool.
I think the same way as you guys too. I dont ahve a sled right now, but i am keeping my eyes out for a good 1500-2000 sled, that way its inexpensive, and still nice enough to ride, and I can afford to ride it then!
Now im just gonna ask what I heard, but wasnt the polaris triple one of the poorer sleds, cause of the thin cylinder walls? Maybe only if your really hard on it?
is it a polaris?? its hard to find one now that hasn't been bagged. i'm also keeping my eye open for a yamaha srx triple. very strong runners!!
Yup, it is a 95 600 and it was well looked after by the PO. I phoned about the sled and when I got to his place turns out I new the guy from years ago and I know he takes care of his stuff and he gave me a bit of a deal too to boot so it was an easy decission.
Preppy I heard a few stories about the tripples to and some of the Polaris guys I talked to said they were fine as long as you didn't get them hot because the center piston would melt. As long as they weren't driven hard for long streches they were fine. They're fine for trail riding and drag racing but bagging them for long distances can be fatal.
You know if you call the number on the ad, I think it is toll free. You can get to talk to someone there and have them give a bit more of a low down. Here is A a # 1800-667-3973 from one of the guys business cards. Maybe he can help you.
I did get a chance to look at it today and it started on the first pull, seemed to run ok.
The track looks ok as does the seat. I noticed some oil just under the top of the left head but don`t think it will be a problem. It shows 2,880 on the speedo, not sure if it`s in kms or miles. The hood is damaged on the hold on the right rear but the rest of the hood seems ok.
There is a key for it. It looks like someone had the hood off as the hinge bolts are missing the nuts, the headlite wire is off as well. All in all looks like a decent machine that was stored inside. The key tag indicated a 91 Polaris.
Keep in mind I`m not expert on snow mobiles and I don`t really know the fine points to look for. Over all it looks ok......
It didn`t look like an oil spill, more like from years of use.
It didn`t look anything too serious from what little I know about two strokes/snow mobiles.
I forgot about the skis pointing straight but from the SGI web site picture they seem ok.
Thanks a million Morris for checking that out I really appreciate it, I can't thank you enough. I just finished seeding this afternoon so I will be putting a bid on it tomorrow.
