axle tag
I have a 78 f150 4x4 351 m the axle tag says 391 so do I have 391 runing gears?

Welcome to the site.
Try cleaning it and looking again.. I think you are looking at the wrong part of the tag.

I had one that was installed wrong side out.

If the rear axle ID tag is missing, there's an AXLE code on the Warranty (VIN) Plate also.
