tranny id

can anyone help me id my trans? i looked under it last night and cannot find any #'s or markings. i have a 77 f350 it is a 4 speed manual with a pto. originally a 400 but now a 460. no door tag. where are numbers or markings on the tranny? thanks.

It's either a NP435 or T18. Both are similar.

If the top cone cover screws off, it's a T18. If it snaps off (or something to that effect...), it's a NP435.

Isn't the top cover where the shifter goes in on the NP435 aluminum and the T18 cast iron? I thought I had heard that somewhere, too. I know my NP435 has an aluminum top cover.
