DR Leveling Kit Question
Sorry for some of the stupid questions, this is just the first lift I have ever put on a truck, and I want to make sure I do it right. Thanks in advance for the help!
I would recommend having the truck aligned afterwards.
It doesn't include stabilizers, but you can upgrade to a dual kit if you would like......it would be an improvement over stock, but not a *must do*
The kit that they sell is the 2.5" Dual Rate Coil Springs, and the Cam Alignment Kit for $342.00. Other than replacing the front shocks, is that all I need in order to do the leveling right with no bad things happening down the road? They also sell more add-on components;
DR Mono-Tube Front Shocks : $99.95 each
DR Mono-Tube Rear Shocks: $99.95 each
Dual Stabilizer System: $254.00
Dual Stabilizer Bracket: $199.90
Adjustable Trac Bar, 29" Pan Rod: $230.00
Carrier Bearing Kit: $52.00
So, my questions are: I know that I need to replace at lease my front shocks after the leveling, are DR shocks any good? I wouldn't mind replacing all the shocks with DR shocks if they are good shocks because I like the way they look over Bilsteins. Does anybody know the price of the Bilstein shocks I will need to replace my stock Ranchos?
Second, do I need to replace the steering stabilizer after I do the leveling? If so, can I use a single stabilizer, or do I need to go up to a dual set up? What are the advantages of a dual set up?
Third, do I need an adjustable trac bar, or carrier bearing kit?
I would love to be able to get the basic $342.00 kit and then replace the shocks and be done, but I am not sure if I need new stabilizers, trac bar, or carrier bearing kit, so I thought I would ask the experts. Sorry for the long winded post, but I am starting to get excited! Thanks again for the help!

I'll take some pics of the install....not sure when that'll be though.
They are pretty easy to install though.
nut1605,
DR shocks are very good.....clear coated to hold up the elements better, nitrosteel shafts (harder and better than the standard chrome everyone uses), and valved specifically for the Super Duty.
You don't *need to* replace your stabilizers.....but it will give you less feedback through the steering wheel if you choose to do so.
Personally, the dual opposiing, nitro charged stabilizer setup (like the Donahoe Racing) is the only kind I'd ever run. By far the best way to go, and gives the truck the best overall handling and feel, IMO.
I have a similar setup on my 01
You shouldn't need a carrier bearing kit
Adj trac bar would assure that the front axle is 100% centered under the truck...but again, not a must to do the install.
I'd say the majority of the people just get the coils, cams and shocks and that's it.

DCSpecial,
Thank you very much for the advice. I think I will start off with the Coils, cams, and DR shocks, and see how I like the steering. I might replace the stabilizer later on down the road. I was most worried about the adjustable trac bar, but if it is not a "must", then I will hold off on that as well. Thank you again for the advice!
Why is there a 3" DR leveling kit and a 2.5" DR leveling kit? Solely to keep the stock spring rate with the 3" kit? My 2001 250, CC, 4wd is not 3" higher in the front, so would this make my front sit higher?
If someone could straighten this out for me I would appreciate it.
Also, with a leveling kit, do I need to specify this when ordering shocks (not necessarily from DR)? Or 250 aftermarket shocks will work?

The DR Mini Spring Pack kit offers 2" of lift while still maintaining the stock spring rate and does not require any additional modifications (such as aftermarket shocks). This kit will level an F250 however the down side is that there is also no increase in suspension travel so performance is not improved. Ride height is simply increased.
The DR 3" Hanger system also maintains the stock spring rate, however the relocation of the springs allows for greater suspension travel and the inclusion of application specific DR Signature Series shocks results in improved on-road ride quality and off-road performance. This kit will level an F350 but will require 1" rear blocks for use on F250s in order to achieve a level stance.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
