K&N filters and underdrive pulleys are a wast of money
I have to agree with you on the K&N filters. Maybe a CAI w/K&N filter will help, but if you're doing a stock replacement, K&N's are worthless.
I have to disagree with you on the underdrive pulleys. I've have nothing but good things to say about them. I've had them on my 5.0 'Stang and on my Lightning and was very satisfied. Only downfall was the damn battery light would light up when I was idling.
i put on shorty headers cuzz i was sick and tired of replacing crack manifolds and went with a flowmaster 40 muffer,k&n filter and bumped up the timing a lil.all in all it was cheap, found the muffler on the side of the road and got the filter from a junk-yard truck the headers were 135 form ebay new and around 10bucks for gaskets

the stock replacement K&N are awesome! definetly noticed a difference! As far as your underdrive pulleys, you battery light will go on because everything is turning slower so your antenator is not working properly.. may need to upgrade your antenator
the thing none of you are keeping in mind, i asked for cheap EASY upgrades... headers, exaust all that is labor intensive and pricy...

I knew why battery lights were lighting up, it was just annoying.
