Free 360/390

I have a chance on getting a free 360 or 390 engine. There is a lady in Davidson that has one sitting beside a shed and wants it gone. It is a 1975 truck engine but that is all I can tell. It is most likely seized since it just has a carb and the exhaust manifold are gone.

I was figuring if it was a 390 then I would jank the crank and scrap the rest. What do you guys think?

Can never have too many freebies and you do have the space so go for it now as these engines are drying up!

I guess I'll see if it's still there this weekend. I'd have to run a tractor into town to load it into the truck. Space isn't an issue at the moment, just sheltered space.

I hear you on the shelter space bit, good luck and hope you get it!
Don`t be in a hurry to throw any of it away, some 390 engine parts are getting hard to find used.

Yeah for sure free is always good and the 390s are probably getting rarer

Yes 390's are few and hard to come by now. There will be guys wanting those blocks. Like the mopar guys now looking for 383 engines. They will pay a 100 to 200 for a seized engine if in a car. If laying on the ground they will still be tempted to pay 100. They are getting desperate for those engines. I find the 390's are getting that way to. Still lots around, but harder to find good ones.

I don't think we would be able to budge it.

I don't think you want to read the headline,

"Abused engine crushes owner"

Saturday afternoon in Davidson. An Ford FE engine attacked it's new owner crushing him fatally. A bystander says "It happened so fast. Everything was going nice but it just refused to ride in the back of the truck. It jumped on him in retaliation. It was just awful to watch". Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. One paramedic made the comment, "It would be hard to defend against a 700 lb animal". The Ford FE will be put down on Monday due to it being a threat to Chevy engines everywhere.
