Lowering a 4X4 dually?

Ok guys real quick, I was thinking about lowering...YES lower my 1999 4X4 Dually. It has 4in blocks in the back and just removing the rear 4in blocks and adding airbags to help w/ towing will take care of the rear. For the front has anybody seen any company out there that makes a leaf spring, shackle, etc to lower the front of a 4X4 dually? I seen some companys out there that take care of 2WD duallys but nothing for a 4X4. Like i said i dont want to slam it just lower it about 4-5in. Any info will help. thanks
Erik

IMO best thing to do would be get softer springs for the front. Just for reference, measure the center of your hub, straight up, till it gets to your fender. Ill measure mine and see if they are the approx the same height or not. It doesnt look much different from your picture, but its hard to tell. As for the rear, do you have two seperate blocks or just one? If theres only one, youll need to find out if its angled or not. I know on my 250 they are. This turns my pinion up a few degrees, although i didnt measure the amount. So just removing them, if they are angled, would turn your pinion down, and could make driveline vibs. However, if it dropped it 4 inches, it might be enough to counter act the issue. Best thing to do would be to get an inclinometer, measure pinion angle, pre and post block removal, and compare that to the output of the tcase. Just removing blocks, wouldnt change your spring capacity, which would be a bonus if you towed. But as far as the front goes, youll probably have to find softer springs. The factory shackles really shouldnt be any shorter, or theyd hit the frame. Hope that helps

You could always do a spring under conversion on the front. I think that 4-5 inches of drop is slamming a 350.

Actually this would require a lot of work, as would what i said. I just remembered, there is only about 2.5-3 inches between the axle, and the bumpstops, atleast on my truck Sounds like frame work to drop the front. 3 Inches of up travel isnt very much. Best thing to do, would be replace the rear block with something smaller, to level it out, if thats the look your going for. I wouldnt mess with the front, now that i went back outside and looked at it.

Thanks guys for the quick responses!

Yes lowering my Dually i think will look proper. I do see a ton of lifted Duallys here in NJ and iam just not into it (I have owned many lifted trucks and loved them, but not my dually).
As for doing the rear there is only 1 block = 4in in height. I will of coarse measure pinion angle before and after all mods where done (if i do lower it). I can get some shim plates to correct pinion angle if needed. Its just the front iam worry about. I was quickly looking it over and i was thinking about a less of a spring rate for the front springs but i dont want the truck to ride like poop. Now for under the axle (like jeeps, etc do) that will probley get me about 4-5in lower, but iam going to have to see if there is room on the axle tubes to do this and of coarse check oilpan, frame rail, etc clearance. Just trying to see if there is a company out there that has done this allready and has some info on it.
Thanks
Erik

Yes thats what iam worry about. My truck does sit about 2-3in higher in the rear, and my buddys 06 F350 DRW has 2in blocks in the rear(mine has the 4in blocks) . So if i get a set of 2in rear blocks from say a 06 F350 and install them in the rear that will probley level the front to rear, but i really would just lower it down a bit more, but iam think its going to be a pain to do the front.

You could just remove the front springs and run airbags.

You can get f250 blocks aswell for 99-02 trucks. They are only 2 inches tall, and should have the desired angle built into them (mine does)

Might be able to get you a little lower, still going to require frame cutting, and reinforcing. there just isnt much room between the axle and frame.

That would be PIMP, but iam not going to get that much involved. I guess iam going to have to just live with leveling the rear with the front.
