Have you guys seen the old '98 spy photo of the Excursion? it was a basic F250 crew cab with a back end of a Expy . I'll try to fine the pics out on my archive CD's
I got it from someone onthe inside that Ford will put the new diesel in the Expedtion in 2011. They'll launch the new engine inthe super duty, then incorporate it into the Expedition. Thats way too long to wait!!!!

Guys you may see that Rover based diesel even sooner than 2011. It's rumored to show up in the '09 F150 so maybe the Expy too. I believe dispacement is going to be right around 4.5 liters. The Super Duty is rumored to have a non-Navistar Ford based 6.7 liter Powerstroke in 2010 ending their long run of International powerplants. Someone mentioned the development of the Excursion and the millions of dollars it took to develop. Truth be known, the Excursion was relatively inexpensive to develop and produce because it was based on the existing Super Duty platform. This is why it was one of Ford's highest profit vehicles. As for the Centurion, they are sweet and were extremely popular in the Northwest before the Excursion came out. They could be ordered through your Ford dealer. I was actually going to purchase one before news of the upcoming Excursion started circulating. I'm still waiting for someone to put the '08 Super Duty front clip on an X and mzke their own '08.
Mayb if dodge put a 3/4 ton diesel suv and chevy put the duramax in the burb, then mayb ford will bring the ex back
According to GM, the DMAX is suppose to be in the 08 Suburban. I asked that question back in 04. That is the reason I bought my 04 X. I could not wait until 08 to replace my 95 6.5L TD Suburban. FWIW!
Ford will never bring the Excursion back (even though that would be a BOLD MOVE). They have closed that chapter. With fuel over $3.00 per gallon, resurrecting a full size SUV would be a P.R. nightmare and Ford just can't afford that. Big gas guzzling SUV's and trucks were to blame for the Big 3's fall from power and with Ford, that blame fell pretty much on the Excursion. Ford is now trying to market a new image with the Hybrid Escape and the new Edge (called Taurus X in '08). Maybe our X's will become more valuable. There is a company that restores 80's and 90's Jeep Grand Wagoneers because they have attained cult status with movie stars and celebs. They sell them for quite a bit more than they cost new. Maybe it's time to put some woodgrain on the ol X.
