I'm putting some remanufactured heads on a '95 351W, and I got new ARP head bolts to do the job.
The instructions with the bolts say to use the faactory torque sequence, but no the factory torque spec. They list the spec as 85 ft/lbs (non-lubricated) or 115 ft/lbs (lubricated). These numbers are close, I don't have the actual sheet in front of me now.
It seems like the low, non-lubricated spec is awfully low. Wouldn't undertorquing these bolts be bad? I understand that the spec they list is rated on the bolts yield strength, but shouldn't the bolts be made stronger in order to properly seat the head to the block?
