Ok guys, I'm back with another question for you. Well, let me first start with thanks for all the help on the $1000 95 psd so far. Here is where I am at. I now have the 6637 filter intake, 10k mod, shimmed regualator, 3 to 4 inch downpipe, and new ICP sensor. I knew I had an exhaust leak at the manifold, turned out the driver side rear manifold bolt had no head on it, seems pretty common from my readings. I got the bolt out, and need to decide whether or not to put gaskets on or just get the manifold surfaced and roll with it. Had no gaskets stock. I have a set of new felpro gaskets in the garage just want your imput on it. Also, when I took the manifold off, the up pipe fell off with it and looks like it was leaking up by the turbo. Is this pipe just a slide in or do I need to replace them now too? I have not seen a expanded parts view of the up pipes to see how they attach by the turbo so I'm not sure. Any advice is greatly apreciated as always. Thanks, Eric
Have the manifold surfaced and replace it without a gasket. for the up-pipe they do slide in there but they have a donut gasket that is a crush seal up top. while you do this you might as well replace the gaskets. the up-pipe also wears in that spot so you may need a new pipe or you might be able to have an exhuast shop expand the end to fit the gasket good. the donut gaskets are a dealer only item. Some have tried donut gaskets from a chevy but they fail shortly after being replaced. Someone should be along shortly with an exploded view of the setup.
Somebody at one point cut those donuts off and welded in a section of flex pipe on the uppies to help reduce leaks. I remember he said it was a pain in the **** but well worth it
Cool, that's what I expected would work best. As far as replacing the up pipes, I heard it's a pain, any tips? And is the dealer the best place to get them? Thanks again guys, yall are awesome, lol.
Ok, I will check with the international dealer, that's where most of the parts so far have come from being how my compay owns 7+ international rigs and they hook me up pretty well. If anyone has an expanded view so I know what i'm getting into that would be a huge help as well. Thanks guys!
Thanks guys, I have it all figured out now. Dropping the manifolds off at the machine shop today and picking up the parts from international. they have is all in stock. thanks, Eric
Is there something wrong with using the manifold gaskets? I put a set on mine when I assembled this motor a little over a year ago and they have been completely leak free. Never even bothered to recheck the torque after the installation.
It has been my experience with mainfold gaskets that if they weren't there from the factory they quick blow out. Beside as long as the manifold is surfaced and the head sealing surface is in good shape they will seal without gaskets. as long as the bolts don't break they stay sealed. This has been mainly with ford 460's and other ford small blocks.
