i am about to buy an 2000 F350 diesel 7.3L stock what kind of milage do you think i would get becasue i know diesel gets better milage per gallon then gasoline engines do. i am new to diesel and wanted the experts opinion, i have an 97 f150 with a 4.6L v8 and i get like 12 miles per gallon and i want alot more then that any help would be appreciated thanks.
depends! on truck weight is this every day driving milage? towing milage which is better than gasser!i get 16.9 mpg on the hwy 70 miles per hr pulling nothing and get 14.9 mpg pulling 5000lb trailer!
I get 16-17 on the Interstate, and ~15 around town depending on how hard I stick my foot into it... Stock 2WD suspension & tire size, 3.73 rearend. That's calculated, not the Lie-O-Meter.
When my rig was stock I would get 24 hwy and 19 in town. With mods I get 16 in town. This is hand calculated of course.... I can't tell you what my modified Hwy is until next month when I actually get my rig off the island. This winter here in Kodiak I got 14-16. This of course is with winter diesel and hub locked in and chip in 80 econo.
D@MN!! 24 on the highway?? I've not even seen close to 20 yet! I have very similar mods as you, too. Only difference is homemade CCV and MBRP 4" SS exhaust...
As you can see, mileage has a large range. Depending on vehicle and driving habits. If it is at a dealer, test drive it for a day or two. Have them fill it up and return it full. This is the only way to know for sure how this truck will do with your driving habits.
Always hand calculate, the display is not acurate.....
I have a stock 2002 4x4 long bed super cab 6 speed . Combo driving usually gets me 18-18.5. I can just get 20 on long freeway trips with very light load in truck. Around town milage seems about 15 or less. I havent measured yet but i also notice a drop just towing my Montuck, which is probably only a 3000 pound boat.
Xdoink11,
I have 2000 F250 about as stock as you can get and I get 15 consistantly. Your new 350 might be heavier and you might get that fever of mods that alot of people seem to get. If you hang around this site your sure to catch it (these guys are a little nuts) ha-ha. Randy
