just wondering if any of you can help me. The problem is that none of the accessories work unless the truck is running. (power windows, locks, inside lights, headlights, etc.) they all come on fine when the motor is running but are dead otherwise. The truck is actually my brother's 05 dodge 3500 cummins and i know this is a ford website, but i thought the stuff would generally be the same as far as what might cause the problem? i checked all the fuses even though i dont know how that could be the problem. I honestly dont know much about any of the electrical parts of the truck because i have never had any problems on my trucks. im sorry for posting this here but i thought someone might have an idea? oh yes and believe me i have been busting his ***** about his (dog)de all night! makes me glad all my trucks are fords. thank you in advance from a ford guy with a mixed up brother
could you explain a little bit more please? As i said the truck does everything fine when the motor is running so wouldnt the ignition have to be ok? i honestly dont know that was just my guess but ill try to look at the ignition switch. thank you
Power windows, radio should work when the key/ignition switch is turned to the "Run" position wether of not the engine is started. With the key/ignition switch in the "Off" position, then the power windows, radio will not work.
Headlights, door locks and interior lights should work no matter what postion the key/ignition switch is in.
