I have recently bought a '95 3/4 supercab. Twice now this has happened on dry pavement at approx 45-65 mph on slight corners. Truck all of the sudden shakes almost out of control, enough to vibrate open the sliding rear window. I slow down to a stop immediately, get out check to see if Im missing any parts, get back in and take off. After stopping everything is fine again. Does anybody know whats going on? Its happened twice over about 2-300 miles. Thanks, Zjon
Jack it up and start by trying to move the front wheels back and forth....and top to bottom. Should be solid.......Put a bar under the wheel and raise it while you look inside at the ball joints. The turning thing makes me think more wheel bearings but it could be ball joints too.
Does the steering wheel react violently too?
How many miles?
I had a wheel bearing go bad once......truck started shaking and vibrating......when I stopped the guy took hold of the top of the wheel and pulled and pushed......actually could feel it moving while on the ground.
Loose lugnuts could cause the wheel to move like that too.
I sure wouldn't drive very far without having it checked out.
Lol, holding on for dear life!!! I know it sounds rediculous but make sure all your wheel lugs are tight. Lots of guys have lost a wheel during operation at those speeds going around turns... Other than that, I think 92F150 is probably right about it being ball joints or wheel bearings.
Does it happen under braking? I hit my brakes hard into a turn once and thought I was going to die the steering wheel shook so bad. That's when I discovered I had some bad tie-rod ends. I had to drive 'er easy for a few days while I waited on parts.
