I'm wanting to install clearance lights on the top of my cab, does anyone now if the wiring may already be under the headliner? A buddy of mine installed some in a mid 90s truck and said the wires were already in the roof. Would be nice if they were , make things a lot easier.
What year is your rig?? It's very unlikely that the harness is there. The plug in is located behinf the passenger door kick panel. I have an '06 that I installed lights on. Check out my gallery for photos of the install. You still will need to remove your headliner to do the light install, drilling holes, ect. so mrunning the wiring harness is no trouble. It actually is a no brainer to install as if you hold it up into position, you will see where the push pins/clips go. For a real good write up on the install go to www.motoman.com (I think that's the right address) He has some really good pics and details on getting it done.
If you haven't already gotten the light kit and harness check out y2kford. The're a sponsor and have some of the best prices around.
Hope this helps...........

OK, I've always wanted to ask this.... What are the lights for? How do you use them? I know they look good and provide visibility. How do you use them for clearance?
Cab clearance lights are part of the mandated lighting required for wide vehicles & loads. The cab clearance lights provide a visual indication of the vehicle's direction, center line (three center lights) and outer boundaries (two outer lights). Additional lights are required to mark outer boundaries of wide vehicles/loads. Hence the marker lights on the extended wheel wells of the F-350's+ with duallies and along the perimeter of trailers.
It's all about letting other drivers know which direction you are going & where your "boundaries" are.
I actually used mine one night to judge my clearance going into a dark airport parking garage. My cab did not hit but my antenna did. Every time i went under a support beam, my antenna would hit. Very annoying! Also they look cool and let on-comming traffic know that you are a big/wide vehicle headed their way. Whenever I see a vehicle comming with cab lights, I make sure to hug my side of the road.

Good clearance light install + photos! I was thinking about installing one of those aftermarket roof mounted DVD players. I wonder if there is a good area to attach one just behind the dome light fixture. Also wanting to install an XM Radio antenna on the roof and trying to figure out how to go about it without the black wire being stretched across 1/2 the roof on the outside (from a window or something).

Most people run it out the 3rd brake light hole on the back of the cab and then on to the roof
