I bought a 6" drop hitch tated at 1200lbs tongue weight and 12K tow. It wasn't solid, though. It was basically a thick wall piece of tubing welded inside the standard draw bar.
That's the only kind of drop hitch I've ever seen...what other type is there?
Tim
silly wabbit, there are 2 types of hitches.
there are the solid bar stock that us perfessional towin type people use, and then there is the cheap hollow tube stock type the novice know-it-all wannabee towin type peoples use.
I think I bought my 10" drop (about 1.5 inches solid steel) from JCW for a 2" ball. Think it has a 1" hole. Was good for 10K and 1200 vertical if I remember the specs. It was a brand name, maybe Superior? Should be able to use a 2 5/16 if the shaft will fit.
There is nothing WRONG with a tube style drawbar... they just aren't rated for quite as much weight. Four of my six ***** mounts are hollow. The others are a pintle and a gooseneck. I tow with the hollow more than any other!
I have a billet aluminum 10K rated adjustable hitch. I pull so many different height trailers, it has 2" and 2 5/16" ***** on it and will raise 4" and drop 6". Quite costly (almost $200), but well worth the money.
