Hey I am not a "mechanic" in anyway but with direction I can get it done...where to start? My Oil gage says High and it is squeling but it has oil....is the squeal a belt?
yo,
What year and engine in that Bronco? My 78 351M runs @ 60 psi when on fast idle, then drops to around 30 after warming up.
I hope it's a belt, which can be checked: With engine off, see how much tension is in the belt (s)..usual deflection is a 1/2 inch or less on the longest straight length of the belt (s). And if you can turn the alternator fan by hand, then that belt is too loose.
or run the engine nd use a 2 0r 3 foot piece of garden hose or a long cardboard tube, like from gift wrap.
Use the hose (or a stethoscope if you have a nurse or doc pal that doesn't mind it getting dirty..lol) and see if you can locate the squealing.
good luck,
Al
My Bronco is an 83 with a 350w...which I plan to drop kick it. It is so gutless, I want to pull a horse trailer but the poor thing can barely pull itself up a hill let alone a trailer!
go for it..a 460? check out others here who have done this swap. or try this other big late model Bronco discussion site: http://dosxxs.off-road.com/wwwthreads//wwwthreads.pl?action=list&Cat=&Board=offroadfordbr oncolate
