97 4x4 ball joints
Well,I read racerguy's post...very nice....my question is,Do you have to remove the torsion bars,or are they OK to be left on the truck?
I am doing doing all balljoints today......Upper A's and lower ball joints.....
I was coming home from work last Friday and got a severe vibration in the front end...felt like the front end was gonna jump right out...this was at about 60 MPH....I pulled over to check and see what was wrong...nothing..started out again and it was fine..all my steering components are in excellent shape, but am gonna doublecheck them anyway
I figured it may be ball joints as the uppers are still factory, but the lowers have been changed 2 years ago...figured I'll do them both now and then i know

uppers are normally made into the a-frame and bought as a unit. cost about $80 each at Auto Zone. they are quick and simple. just mark with a center punch where they are now, and put back in the same spot. If you dont, you wil need to be aligned.----- i also llke to check if things are worn out before changing. with truck up off the ground and setting on jack UNDER the a-frames and tires hanging, you can check all 4 joints for looseness.--- loosen the torsion bolts to make taking the bottoms apart easier, but dont have to remove--- you need to pull the hub to get clearance to remove the ball joint.
