I mean really.... why would I spend time finding a Ford truck enthusiast site just to come in and start blowin' smoke up people's butt's. I originally asked for advice on getting more horsepower and STORMY right from the get go started rippin' on my chip etc...

ryan04,

Leave the attitude and personal attacks for somewhere else. We on FTE understand the Edge and all its problems very well.

Attitude and personal attacks will get shown the door at FTE. Please read the posting guidelines and rules.

First off.. It's Storm if you wish to start name calling...

Second .. You asked for ADVICE in which I gave you an OPINION in response to the ADVICE for MORE HORSEPOWER!

Third .. YOU are not the FIRST nor the LAST who has come in here and blown some pretty wild smoke.. Simply put and everyone in here will agree.. You bring a far fetched example without proof.. Then we will call your bluff.. If you prove us to be wrong, or should I say myself wrong.. Then I'll apologize.. But until then I won't unless the proof is here.. We've been around these trucks for years.. Some of us ford mechanics.. We know what the 6L can do and we damn sure know what these chips can truly produce.. We've seen them, we've tested them.. Search the forum.. I'm sure you'll find a mountain of information on what has worked and hasn't worked..

I'm an easy guy to get along with.. If your straight and honest upfront we can help you bring the best out of that 6L.. Come farfetched and we won't bother giving advice.. Simply put..

I'm done now.. Have a great day!

Storm is telling you like it is, if you want to get more power out of your 6.0 and have it stay together long enough to use it, you need to lose the Edge "chip" and get an "SCT tuner" with custom tunes.

If you really want help from the members of FTE on proper performance mods for your truck, you need to leave the attitude behind and understand that you have made some wrong performance mod choices already and we are going to tell you that when we answer your questions.

According to the majority, I have definately made some wrong mod choices hahaha... about $2000.00 worth. Why would 9/10 of the reputable diesel shops in salt lake city tell me that the edge juice w/ att is the superior way to go? are they all wrong?

many of the shops sell the "popular" type modifications - Edge, Bully, Supertuner, etc .. doesn't mean they're really the best. For example, anyone on here will tell you that for the 7.3 that the DP is hands down the best .. but try to find that at any shop - you wont

What is a speed shop? It is a retail store like any other. There job is to sell products, not neccessarily know anything about them. And yes they are "All" wrong with respect to their knowledge of the 6.0

There is an age old saying and it always applies "caveat emptor"

Look at it this way.. They are going to tell you what they need to, to make the buck.. I'll give you an example..

This weekend TNT and I went into a truck shop.. Turned out to be the wrong shop but while I was in there the owner was trying to sell this gentleman a Bully Dog tuner which most of agree isn't worth the money.. Then he made a comment "Diesels don't make much power period off of tuners. But putting this Bully dog on your 5.4L will make it pretty fast."

There's a prime example.. Not only did he blow smoke up the guys rear end.. He also pulled down the diesel with inaccurate information.. We have seen what the SCT xCal and Livewire can do to the 6L.. I've seen shade tree truck shops who don't know their rear end from a hole in the wall..

Your intake wasn't worth it.. I've tried aftermarket intakes.. To this day I still pull more performance and power out of my stock intake.. Using aftermarket I had 40* increase in Intake Air Temp and my cool down period was 1/3 higher then previous.

Edge is just that.. It does nothing but modify things after the PCM.. Using the SCT allows you to disable systems that you don't need.. Block out the EGR valve so your not recirculating exhaust.. It provides you the ability to make your TorqueShift shift firmer and quicker.. Plus the Custom Tunes are built to your liking, to your truck.. Its not like the Edge which is Proprietary and only has one "idea" for every 6L..

Exhaust was a good choice.. It will reduce your EGT's and give that narly 6L sound that make most people go "Huh?"..

No! The diesel guru needs to be the guy writing the program for you SCT.

The SCT just uploads the new computer program to your truck through the OBDII port. It is plug and play. If you can use a computer you can upload the program into your truck.

You need to talk to the tuning guru (Matt) tell him what you want your truck to accomplish and what the specifications are or your particular truck and its current mods. He will customize the program for your setup.
Then when and if you decide to add injectors, turbos, meth injection or whatever, Matt can simply re-write the program for your new mods and email it to you, it is that simple.

Hope this helps

We have the Livewire in the shop.. http://www.dfuser.com

Includes 3 free custom tunes..

Depends on what you want tho.. There's the Livewire which has the monitoring hardware and programming.. Or the xCal 2 which is just the programmer..
