What is the ambient temp when this starting problems occurs? You could plug your temp into the equation in the link, and see how close you are to being able to start without glow plugs if your cranking compression was good. If this condition came on fairly suddenly, it could be the glow plug relay (or several glow plugs) going bad. If it's developed over a long period of time, getting progressively worse, it sounds more like poor compression due to rings or valve seals.
i have a 02 it will not start unless you plug it up . then it will not run good until it gets hot whats wrong with it ?
Not really giving us much to go on.
Same thing at work, I get a call and the owner of the car says: "My check engine light is on. What's wrong and how much to fix it?"
I have to explain to them that there are about 100 perameters that can fail to command the light to come on. Car must be scanned to see what's up before I can even begin to answer the question.
Read this and if you cannot find the answer, get back to us with a little more detail.
By plugging in you are talking about the block heater.
First thing to check would be the glow plug relay and then the glow plugs on the no start.
Describe the "not run good" a little better (rough or no power)?
yes i have to plug it up to the block heater.it will start up and run but it runs rough with low power and it shakes for a little while . but when the engine gets warmed up good. it smooths out and runs good . i replaced the gpr it was not working. but it still doesnt want to start unless i leave it pluged up to the block heater for a few hours.. thanks for any help

Kwikkordead, doesn't this sound like the symptom for low compression that you posted on the thread involving compression testing? Seems like runs fine when warm pretty much eliminates everything else like bad fuel, pressure, injectors, etc... I guess he needs to ohm each glow plug because if his GPR went bad it might've been because of some bad GP's.
