My F-150 extended cab is about 1 year old and has been back to the dealer about 5 times to try and git rid of an awful musty odor in the HVAC system. I'm about ready to invoke the"Lemon Law" here in New Hampshire. All they do is squirt more "stuff" in there. Anyone else had this problem? Thanks
If you leave your control selector in "OFF" or "MAX A/C" it shuts the outside air vent. This allows mold to grow in the system. Try leaving it in any other position. This should help.
Next time you have the air running, make sure water is draining from hose in the bottom. The drain can plug or the pan that collect the water from condensation can hold water and allow all sorts of neat critters to live. Is sort of like the desert, when the water dries up, they all hide and when it "rains" watch out.
I don't think this qualifies for lemon laws. Its mold in the AC vents because of condensation. I may be wrong though as lemon laws differ in each state.
This is a common problem. If I know I won't be using the truck for a while, or won't be using the A/C for a while (like colder weather coming), I will turn the A/C off and run it on Panel/Vent with fan speed up, to dry out the evaporator, before shutting it down. Parking it with a wet evaporator for a while tends to help fungus grow in there. Been doing this on a lot of vehicles for quite a few years, with good results. Maybe this will work for you.
try a few drops of baby oil in the fresh air pickup area in front of windsheild on right side. it will remove the smell just think about what it does for a babys butt.try it it works.
