Alrighty, I have proven to myself that I can't search these forums to save my life.
So please forgive me if I am asking something thats common.
I have an 88 F150 with a 300 -6 and an oxygen sensor that has been in there for an age. Its rusted in there to the point that its not possible to turn it.
So far in my attempts I have managed to strip the grip on it down to a near perfect circle.
What is the best way to get this thing out of here? I am currently trying to heat up the part of the exhaust pipe where this headache screws in then grab it with some vice grips.
I'll give that a shot. For now, the sensor is not connected and the truck is actually running leiner than before. I guess it defauts to something in the middle if the 02 sensor is showing an open. Before it just stank of gas.
Well I got it out. Had to take a long pipe wrench, prop my feet against the front axle, and pull with my whole body (slowly and carefully). It came out. I was happy to see the threads survived the ordeal as well. Lesson learned here is use the correct size socket for the job, even if that socket is "pipe wrench" in size. I have never had an oxygen sensor this stuck before.
