i was wondering what years and model pickup bed i can fit on my 1976 f250? could i put a 90's style bed on it(pretty sure i already know the answer but thought i would ask)? because i am having a hell of a time trying to find an f250 bed for it. right now i am running a flatbed and want an actual bed.
You can put a 90s bed on, but the body lines wouldn't line up and look kinda crappy. Same for the 80s beds. If appearance doesn't matter, than you can do it. Won't be a direct bolt in, so you would have to drill new holes.
Is your truck a 4x2 or 4x4? All F250 4x4s from 73-77.5 had narrower frames and would have to redrill holes unless you found a specific 73-77.5 F250 bed which is hard. But you can easily swap any 73-79 bed.
Ebay once in awhile has beds. Also, you can try a place out of Cedar Rapids IA called Rust Free Auto Parts. http://rustfreeparts.com/index.asp
His stuff is pretty expensive and usually have some beds in stock. Just depends on timing. I see your from KS, so it may be an option.
Or you could order all the parts and weld together a bed. Kinda expensive also.
thanks alot! so i could swap over a 70's f150 bed and it would fit(with some drilling anyway)? also, would a 70's ranger ranger bed fit or would that not be wide enough?
and if i dont find one around here, i will probably buy from that site.
Any long bed from 73-79 F100, F150, F250, F350 would swap over. If you find one from a 73-77.5 F250 4x4 (which is almost impossible to find in good shape) you would have to drill different holes. Other than that, the beds are the same. Just trim may be different and the fuel holes/doors.

If your truck is a 76 F250 4x4, than it's considered a "highboy". Check out the "read first: tips and tricks section at the beginning of this forum and you'll find some nice info on the "highboy".
