Transmission Whine

Transmission Whine
Got a problem I'm sure the experts here can help me with.
01 F250 PS w/110,000 on the clock.
When the truck is cold everything is fine. However, after everything warms up I start to get a whine from the tranny. An example of when this happens is, go down the hiway everything is OK (going aroujnd 75MPH). Take the off ramp get on the frontage road to go home (now going around 60-65) I get a whine from the tranny. The RPMS are OK for the speed (right around 1600-1700) so I know I'm in fourth. I can turn off the O/D the RPMs go into the hi 2000's, let it ride this way for a few seconds then turn on the OD. Sometimes the whine goes away, other times I have to do this 2 or three times then it goes away.
Torque Convertor? if not then what.
Tranny serviced at 98,000. I've checked the fluid level and it's right in the zone.
Thanks for all the help

What is the build date on your truck? The late 2000 and early 2001 trannys had a mechanical diode rather than a sprage. I just recently had my tranny rebuilt by John Wood due to slipping and metal in the fluid. When we pulled the trans apart he showed me the snap ring that holds "I think" the overdrive mechanism in place. It had popped out on mine and he stated "if you would have hit the overdrive button on your truck you would have come to a screeching halt".
To me it was worth it to take my truck to someone that knows how to build a quality transmission and I successfully took the risk and drove to California to have it done right.
Hope this helps,
