popping
I read on another thread about popping noises. When I am going downhill and off the gas my truck pops a bit. Not loud or anything and pretty steady. Is this normal? I have a carter YFA 1-barrel with a teeny tiny air filter on a 4.9 300. It runs fine otherwise although it doesn't make much power. Timing?

really depends on how loud....any type of popping is supposedly not good...but since our engines are choked up it is gonna get some popping. I think I know what your talking about...my truck does it too but I have my timing advanced a little.

Yeah, my timing is at 11 or 12 degrees (advanced 1 or 2 degrees, can't remember which) and it only ever does it on deceleration with the clutch out (in gear). It actually sounds pretty good and is pretty quiet, so I have not ever worried about it, well until I read the other thread anyways.
