Alpine Head Unit

I am looking at installing a new Alpine head unit in my 06 PSD. Just how good are the factory speakers? I installed a Pioneer on my 99 PSD, and the stock speakers were not bad. Has Ford changed manufacturers of the stock speakers or not since 99? If I choose to install aftermarket speakers, any advise on what brand?

Stock speaker suck. IMO replace them with something better. I like Kickers, but to each his own.

I have a alpine head unit and love it. I tried different speakers. I don't like pioneer speakers at all. The ones I found to be the best are infinity reference series. Sound great and the price isn't bad. If you line the inside of the doors with dynamat sound dampening it makes a big difference. I heard a system before and after and it is amazing. I am going to put the dynamat extreme in my 2000 crew in a couple of weeks. The best price I found is at amazon.com.

i recently had the local sound shop install a pioneer premier headunit (along with the connector for steering wheel controls and an XM unit compatible with the pioneer headunit). i wanted to try this before even thinking about installing new speakers.

i was suprised. the new unit sounded so much better than the factory 6cd. i dont need thumping bass but this unit sounds darn good with the factory speakers.

i would try the headunit first before speakers.
