The radiator with the cooler in it does more then just cool. it regulates the minimum temp of the fluid as well. I dont know where you are located, but up north-this should be a major concern, you can run these tranny's too cool. Even the high temp will be regulated better as well because of the coolant temp..I have seen brand new radiators for less then $300..
I just bought a '99 F350 PSD SRW /66K miles. Installed Superchip at mid setting. On my first pull with this truck; 6k tt, 20mph tail wind, @62 mph, Il. I-57{very flat}, my trans temp exceeed 190'. Other reading, pyro 6'-7' and boost running 6-7#. Stopped 15 min. and trans temp drops back to 150', pulled back and the road again and temp soon came back up. Outside temp was 60'. At this point, I haven't done anything. What dicrections should I go first? Thanks..
where in IL are you?
I would suggest you ask Ron at Heavy metal Performance

Down state, close to Effingham. I'm thinking the gauge went bad, changing from one truck to another. Has anyone sent a gauge back to Autometer to be repaired or is it just as cheap to order a new one? Thanks.. Oh, were is Ron?
Yes, I had the v-10 cooler in my truck. trans temps dont go over 160 now. Check your radiator and condensor and make sure they are cleaned. Mine were dirty, i cleaned it and my trans temps are much lower now.
Did you replace the radiator from the V10 or just add a cooler?
I would retrofit the later model radiator with the trans cooler in it. the add on air coolers will decrease the temps, but the water cooler in the raditor is very efficient. Plus wont decrease line pressure from the pump-like two stacked cooler will.
I have found a radiator from a '02 V10. Will it replace my radiator? I understand that I would have to reroute the oil lines, or is there more involved?
