OBD1 vs. OBD2

Guys how much better is the 94-95 F-150 OBD1 Mass air sytem over the SD ECU systems from the 92-93 F-150's?

Mass air is better because it can adjust realtime to the actual engine load, not just ball park it as the SD system does. Both these systems are OBD1 however, the only windsor powered OBD2 F150s were in 1996, because the modular motors began in '97.

Not sure exactly , but I beleive it is a motor that can have SOHC and DOHC , different valves and assortments (16 valve - 32 valve) , get the idea, they can come off the same factory line , I know this to be true for the Mustang 4.6L , the gt vs a cobra motor. The same motor just different in setup.
But I could be wrong , the experts will chime in.

edit: here's a better definition from wikipedia:

The Modular engine, or "mod motor" as it is often referred to, is Ford Motor Company's modern overhead camshaft (OHC) V8 and V10 engine family. It gradually replaced the Windsor small-block and 385 big-block engines over several years in the mid-1990s. Contrary to popular belief, the Modular engine did not get its name from its design or sharing of certain parts among the engine family. Instead, the name was derived from a manufacturing plant protocol, "Modular", where the plant and its tooling could be changed out in a matter of hours to manufacture different versions of the engine family. [1]. It is used in Ford trucks, (called the Triton) in Lincolns (called Intech) and in Ford and Mercury cars.

And just to clarify (or confuse) the MAF thing, not all 94-95 are MAF. very few 351s got MAF in 95-95, probably only california trucks. 351s (for the most part) got MAF in 96.

Hope this clarifies it a bit, but more than likely confuses it.

From the sounds of your question it seems that you are wondering which is better between SD and MAF. Whats this got to do with OBD 1 and OBD 2??

Either way, there is no "better." SD and MAF both have their pros and cons and which one is superior is an ongoing debate. MAF is more user friendly so to speak because it can adjust itself to changes where as SD needs to be reprogrammed every time a change that effects volumetric efficiency is made. But, SD has more performance potential in high performance applications if set up by the right person.
