Has anyone experienced lose of throttle after washing thier truck? My truck is an 02' 7.3. Recently and on other occasions, after washing my truck the engine light comes on and the throttle goes away. The truck idles fine but when I push the pedal down nothing happens. I can put it in park, the engine light goes off and then I can rev the engine. Once I put it drive the problem happens all over again. If I wait for several minutes whatever it is that's getting wet dries enough and I can go on my way with no problem. What is getting wet that might cause this? I'd appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks,
Lou

I am definitely not a mechanic, but a place i used to work used Ford Diesel shuttles and when the idle control got wet, the truck would high idle and the throttle was not responsive (much like you indicated). We were able to disconnect the high idle feature and the shuttle worked fine. I know my 6.0 has a high idle feature, but i don't know where the control is. Your problem might be related because the shutle was a 7.3l. Thats all i can think of. Hope this helps
the PCM and 4 groups of wire are under the brake boost..when they get wet.. strange things happen..you can get some electrical grease and use it on all plugs inside and out..or cover them plugs and the PCM with plastic next time you wash...
If the engine light comes on, there should be a code stored that may help point you in the right direction. Does the problem every occur when its raining?
drivers side on the fire wall..big round booster with a white bottle for brake fluid...look down on the inner fender next to the frame and you will see 4 groups of wires..same place but on fire wall you will see a large plug..that's the PCM..
Sorry it took so long to reply guys..............yes, this problem only happens when I wash the truck or in heavy rains. I'll check all the plugs leading to the PCM. I plan on taking water hose and statigicly wet certain areas.
