evinrude boat motor

hello, i have an evinrude 6 hp boat motor, if i had to guess the year of it i would say around a 1980 perhaps, give or take a couple. anyways i have always mixed the oil-gas at 50:1 and everything runs great, but i am just wondering what the real oil to gas ratio is for the motor, unless i am mixing it to the right specs. does anyone know?

thanks

I'd call a Johnson/Evinrude dealer and ask them what they recommend.

Luckily I don't have to mix gas and oil, because I have a 1981 Honda 10 hp outboard (4 stroke). But it's slightly heavier than a comparable 2 stroke outboard.

Yep 50 to 1 is correct for a evinrude. I have a Johnson & thats what it uses.

I think I'd still call a dealer and ask. It depends on the brand of oil what the mixture should be. I've seen a lot of times where it says "If using XYZ oil mix 32:1, if using other branded oil mix 50:1". So I would still call the local marina and ask.
