Any more info on this 2007 Ford Escape radio? I wanted to add an amp and new speakers to my 05 F350 but don't have the budget to do it the right way at this time. Will this radio work with my steering wheel controls? Will this improve the sound and loudness a lot or a little?

I think that the '05 radio is the same as the '06-'07. I will have to go back and look. The '06-'07 F150 and Super Duty radios are a different size and a different style from the '07 Escape radio. Check ebay for an 06-07 F150 or Super Duty radio. There are usually several available at very good prices. Be sure to get the "upgraded" "audiophile" version which has a lot of extra features and plenty of power without external amps. Yes, it has a lot more volume and sounds a lot better than the "standard" original radio. These radios are available as upgrades from Ford when you purchase a new vehicle. The upgrade is about $600.00. Also the 06-07 audiophile radio plays mp3s and CD-Rs and is sattelite receiver compatible. You can tell it is the "audiophile" version by looking at the plug sockets on the back of the radio. It will have 3, not 2, like the "standard" radio. Let me know if you need more info and I will locate a part number for you.

Here are a couple of things to look at. Ebay item # 280116163702. This is NOT the radio you want. Note the two plug sockets on the back of the radio. This radio does NOT have the audiophile features. Check Ebay item #280115730709. This should be the type of radio that you are looking for. Note the three plug sockets on the back. Check your radio brackets and compare with this one for fit. The brackets can usually be moved from your current radio to the new one. NOTE: THIS INFORMATION IS ONLY INTENDED TO GIVE YOU SOME DIRECTION ON WHAT/WHERE TO LOOK. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND MAKE SURE THAT THE RADIO YOU PURCHASE IS WHAT YOU WANT.

Good luck and happy listening.

DavidB;

Thanks for your help on this! Do you also know if the "Audiophile" version has more power (watts) then the factory 6 cd stereo in my 2005 F350 factory unit?

I am trying to upgrade from my factory unit which is the same one you refer to with the two plugs in the rear,

Thanks again!

Greg

The radio is a drop in replacement for the original 2000 Super Duty radio. All you have to do is install a cable adapter to convert from the "world class" type of plug to the "phase two" plug. You can make the cable or purchased a ready made to plug in cable. $30 - $45. Do a google search or check ebay. There are several places that cary this radio brand new. There are a lot of others that will fit and a lot that will not fit. Research before you buy. Mine sounds great and looks great. Looks like original factory radio.
Coolbeans...Thanks ! I see on on E-Bay right now... Is this the one?

If so, I'm gonna nab it! About how much should I shell out for it if someone else bids on it?

Thanks again !

Scott

Cobra GT 40..That looks like the one. The last one I saw on Ebay went for $325. I bought one about a month ago for $265. Just depends on who is bidding. You can always bid what you want to pay and if it goes over that, just wait and search for another one. They seem to come up fairly regularly, but you never know for sure. Good Luck.

I do not have the specs on your radio, but if it is not the audiophile version (I do not remember seeing any of the 2000 Super Duty radios labeled audiophile, but that does not necessarily mean that they did not exist. I am pretty sure that non of the 2000 radios played mp3s) it has much lower power output than the audiophile model. If you go to Ford.com and select 2007 Escape, build and price your vehicle, go to "interior", you will see the two radio options. Both are 6 cd changers, but only one is the audiophile radio. Here is what is stated on the Ford site when you click on "details" for the upgraded radio:"Audiophile (320 watts) 6 disc in-dash, 7 speakers (MP3 and sattelite capable)" By the way, the 7th speaker in the Escape is the subwoofer. Please understand that I am not trying to get you to buy one of these radios. I am merely sharing with you information that I found. I can tell you that I installed one of these in my 2000 F350 and I really like it. Each of us has our own needs and resources. This radio satisfies mine.

Happy Listening. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Deercreek1...OOOPS. You are looking for a 2005 radio not one for the 2000 F350. The 2007 Escape radio will not fit the 2005 Super Duty. Please see my response a couple of posts earlier for info on the 2005 radio. Hope that wasn't confusing.

Deercreek1...I looked at the Ford site for information on the radio options for the new Super Duty trucks, but it does not provide much information. The "Standard" radio is a single CD unit, the upgraded 6 CD radio costs $300.00 extra, the audiophile version of the 6 cd in dash unit cost $555.00 extra. Earlier I posted info so that you could go to ebay and look at the different radios.

Hope this helps

No Problem Dave!

I'm just trying to determine if the "audiophile" version is in fact better than my factory 6 CD stereo. I ahve also e-mailed a couple of radio sellers with this same question and will report back once they have responded.

Thanks again for all your help

Yeah things got a little jumbled up in here since 2 different people are looking for radio info.

Deercreek needs one for a 2005 Super Duty. This is the larger size radio that is available in a few different Ford vehicles from 04-up. The ones I can think of off the top of my head are the 04-up F-150, 05-up Super Duty, and 05-up Mustang. The two radios DavidB gave the ebay listing numbers for will work here.

CobraGT40 needs a radio for a 2000 Super Duty. This is the radio with the 4 holes on the front to remove it. I know 99-04 Super Duty radios will work, I believe 99-03 F150 radios will work, I am not sure about what other ones will.

2005 radio upgrade?

Here is what the guy at West Coast Radio told me. The 6 CD radio in the F350 trucks is the top of the line radio. Changing to the "Audiophile" version is the same wattage but with a few extra features such as MP3 capability and subwoofer capability(apparently truck guys don't need subwoofers?).

If anyone has any other info it would be appreciated. Sounds like the only upgrade is to add an amp or go aftermarket.

Well....I am not sure that your info from West Coast audio is completly correct. It doesn't seem that a few extra features would almost double the cost of the radio. I also know that the basic 6 cd in dash radio supports 4 speakers and the audiophile radio supports 8 speakers including a sub-woofer.
