Hey guys. Well we have tried for over a month to get this car transmission in this truck and we keep running into problems. So I have desided that in order to keep me and my mom in our right minds I'll just find a 3 speed truck tranny.
So I'm looking for a tranny to fit a 1964 f-100 with a 223 engine. I want to try to stick with a 3 speed colum shift if possible. Money is tight cuz moms laid off but if you guys know of anything please let me know.
Thanks
Matt
what kind of car trans were you trying and where are you located?
I'm located in arkansas. I was told that the car tranny was from a 68 ford failane or mustang its a 3 speed. We finally got the right throwout bearing for it but now our problem is we cant use the truck bell housing with this tranny. Something about it doesn't allow the clutch fork to move correctly.
I figured it would be harder to find the correct bell houseing to fit the car tranny than it would be to find a 3 speed truck tranny.

Reason: miss spelling
The transmission you have now is from 1968 Mustang/Fairlane, and is essentially the same 3 speed the trucks use..the all syncro 3 speed introduced in 1963. The throwout bearing and the collar are the one piece design and is used on every Ford car/truck from 1967 thru the 1980's. The throwout fork is the early design. What's the problem with the bell? What are the Ford casting numbers off it?
These 3-speeds are everywhere, including on the floor of my garage. You are welcome to it for the price of shipping. Working when pulled for an AOD swap.
I just bought a '61 f-100 without drive train,my choice, the fella I bought it from has a 3speed trannny from same to sell and also a 6 cyl. block, reworked and in pieces, to sell. At the risk of speaking for him, I belive he will deal. He is not registered on this site, so if interested respond to this and I will give you his e-mail.
